OSARO ONAIWU TO GOV. DOUYE DIRI: “DON’T LET HISTORY JUDGE YOU WRONGLY”

Renowned political strategist and founding Director-General of the PDP Governors’ Forum, Earl Osaro Onaiwu, has cautioned Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa State against entertaining thoughts of defecting to the All Progressives Congress (APC), warning that such a move would not only damage his legacy but also betray the party that raised him.

Earl Osaro, in a strongly worded statement on Monday, reminded Governor Diri that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has been instrumental in shaping his political career one that spans from Commissioner, to Member of the House of Representatives, then to Senator, and now a two-term Governor of Bayelsa State.

“To jump ship at this stage would be a great disservice to the party that gave you everything you are today. Many have gone to APC before you, what do they have to show? Nothing but regrets and silence,” Earl Osaro said.

He noted that while defection has become the trend among some political leaders, the reality is that those who have moved to the APC have not delivered anything meaningful to their people.

“If your political house is leaking, fix it. Don’t abandon it. Defection is not a solution, it is an excuse,” he added.

Earl Osaro emphasized that the PDP remains the only national party with structure, legacy, and genuine ideological identity, and it would be tragic for any leader to abandon it at the height of their political relevance.

He called on Governor Diri to stay the course, deepen his loyalty to the PDP, and finish strong, stating that posterity will not be kind to leaders who switch allegiances for personal or political convenience.
